Flyers De-Edge Third

Happy Halloween everyone!  As you can see above I've applied a Halloween design to the blog (with clipart from Webweaver's Free Clipart).  Anyways, today post is for the Flyers.

Philadelphia Flyers Third:
This concept is kind of inspired by the BC Lions third jersey (which is very popular in BC), by using no white in the striping.  I originally had orange numbers as well, but white looked much better.  For the jersey striping, I took the shoulder-stripes from the primary jerseys and moved it down the sleeves, to more closely resemble the striping on the Flyers jerseys throughout the years.  I also tapered the shoulder-stripes towards the collar.  There is a new helmet, but the gloves and pants are the same as with the home and road jerseys.

Enjoy your Halloween, and be safe!

Senators De-Edge Third

There won't be a third jersey for the Rangers, so the Senators are up next.

Ottawa Senators Third:
I used a bit of barber-pole design on the home and road jerseys, so I thought I'd use more for the third jersey.  I tried three different logos on this concept (the O-logo and the 2D Senator the two others) but decided on this one.  There is a new helmet, and the font has a thicker outline, but the pants and gloves are the same as with the primary jerseys.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Islanders De-Edge Third

Hello everyone.  The Islanders are the next team with a third jersey in this series (no third jerseys for Montreal, Nashville, or New Jersey).

New York Islanders Third:
As you can see this jersey is orange, with the script over a number like their current third jersey.  For the striping, what I did was enlarge the sleeve-stripes from the primary jerseys, add white, and then match the rest of the striping to those sleeves (the end result is kind of similar to the Islanders jerseys from my NHL Redesign Series).  There are new pants for this jersey, but the gloves and helmets are the same.

And here is that third jersey again but with the home and road jerseys as well.

Thanks for looking.

Wild De-Edge Third

Minnesota Wild Third:
When I posted the home and road Wild jerseys WinnipegJets96 suggested I make a red version as a third jersey.  While this isn't exactly a red version of the primary jerseys, it is inspired by those jerseys (I thought three jerseys using the same striping pattern would be too much consistency for the Wild).  There is a new helmet and the number font is different than the home and road, but the pants and gloves are the same.

Kings De-Edge Third

There won't be a third jersey for the Panthers, so the Kings are the next team.

Los Angeles Kings Third:
I made three or four different third jerseys for the Kings before I decided on this concept.  As you can see this features the team's "Kings" script inside of a chest-stripe (similar to the script inside of the hem-stripes on the primary jerseys).  There is a new helmet that also features the "Kings" script, but the pants and gloves are the same as with the home and road.

Here are all three jerseys on one image.

Oilers De-Edge Third

I'm not doing third jerseys for Columbus, Dallas, or Detroit, so the Oilers are up next.

Edmonton Oilers Third:
I wanted to do an orange third jersey for the Oilers, but I didn't want it to be a simple recolour of the home and road jerseys (it does share quite a few similarities though).  The hem and sleeve stripes are inspired by the logo, how the bottom half is mostly blue and the top half is more white.  There are new helmets and pants, but the gloves are the same.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving/Columbus Day weekends.

Avalanche De-Edge Third

Colorado Avalanche Third:
The home and road jerseys I did for the Avalanche were fairly modern, so I wanted to do a more traditional third jersey.  It is loosely inspired by the Nordiques jerseys, with simple striping, and blue (both navy and light blue) as the only colour used anywhere besides the team's primary logo.  I used the "Colorado" script on the front of the jersey because I thought it worked better with the more traditional design.  The gloves and pants are the same as what is used with the primary jerseys, but there is a new helmet.

Full Set:
Here's a look at the full set.  As you can see the Avalanche become the first team in this series to have three non-white jerseys.

Thanks for visiting.

Carolina, Kitchener, and Blackhawks De-Edge Third

Carolina Hurricanes, by Alan:
For the third straight post we begin with a Hurricanes concept, this time by Alan from AJH Hockey Jersey Art.  I believe this was created before the Hurricanes re-brand, it seems to fit in with that era with the Hurricanes old font and the use of silver in the striping.  The sleeve, hem, sock, and especially pant stripes all look good.  The only striping I don't like is the unique striping on the shoulders, as I think it's too box-y.  My recommendation would be to get rid of the white and silver outlines on the ends of that shoulder design (the vertical outlines).

Kitchener Rangers, by Alan:
I love this concept because it gets Kitchener away from looking like the New York Rangers, and gives them a look that (as Alan's description says) "is simple, classic, and modern all at the same time".  The striping, logos, and fonts all look great.  I especially like the shoulder patch Alan created.  The only two things I don't like were carried over from their current uniform, and those are the red helmets and New York Ranger's style pants.  I think a blue or white helmet would look better with the white jersey, and I think the pants are to retro looking for these jerseys.  Those two things are fairly minor though, and they don't take away from this great concept.

Chicago Blackhawks Third:
As you can see this is a black version of the home and road jerseys.  I felt like this jersey made the whole set more cohesive.  All the equipment (besides the socks) are the same as the home jersey.

Here's a look at all three jerseys together.

Hurricanes De-Edge Third

I'm not doing a De-Edge third jersey for Calgary, so here are the Hurricanes.

Carolina Hurricanes Third:
I went a bit crazy here with gradients and the hurricane-flag pattern.  The home and road had a more traditional look, so I wanted to try something out there for the third jersey (the Hurricanes have only been around since 1997, so I don't think they should look traditional all the time).  The equipment is all new for this jersey, but I used the same font as the primary jerseys.

Update:  I guess I didn't go crazy enough with the gradients and hurricane-flag pattern, as both Tyler Gross and Jake88 suggested I use more.  Tyler thought I should use the hurricane-flag pattern on the pants, Jake88 agreed with him and suggested I put it on the socks as well.  I tried both those changes and liked them, so here is the updated Hurricanes third jersey.

Thank you to both Tyler Gross and Jake88 for the suggestions.
