San Jose Sharks De-Edge

The Sharks are the next team in my De-Edge series, so I thought this would be a good time to provide a brief review of their new look.  I like that they eliminated one of the orange stripes from the sleeve and sock stripes, it makes those stripes slightly more interesting.  I also like the removal of the shoulder yoke, without it the jersey is less busy.  The updated numbers are also an improvement, and I don't even mind the front numbers anymore without the shoulder yoke to crowd them.  The one thing I don't like is the removal of the hem stripes.  Some jerseys look good without hem stripes (like the Sharks third jersey), but I don't like how it looks in this situation.  Overall I would say this was a lateral move.

San Jose Sharks:
This is a combination of my favourite stuff from different Sharks jerseys.  Most noticeably the shoulder/sleeve design from their 1998-2007 jerseys, and the striping pattern from their 2007-2013 jerseys.

Enjoy your weekend!

Pittsburgh Penguins De-Edge

Pittsburgh Penguins:
Pittsburgh has a famous golden triangle (featured in their logo), so I decided to use that as inspiration for the sleeve stripes.  These jerseys also are somewhat similar to their current and pre-edge jerseys, which was actually unintentional.

As always, feel free to leave any thoughts you have.  Thanks for visiting.

Phoenix Coyotes De-Edge

Phoenix Coyotes:
I brought back the unique striping pattern from the Coyotes original jerseys, but I kept the jerseys two toned like their current jerseys (and now their "sand" colour replaces white).  I used the same logos in the same places as their current jerseys (except now the shoulder patches are on both sides), and the number font is inspired by their original number font.

Have a good day!

Philadelphia Flyers De-Edge

Philadelphia Flyers:
I wanted to keep the general idea of the Flyers jersey the same, but also do something new.  So instead of the stripes going down the sleeves, I used a design that is kind of similar to the jerseys Canada wore in 1998, and the jerseys USA wore in 2002.  Also, these still have contrasting nameplates in a way.

Ottawa Senators De-Edge

Ottawa Senators:
I had a few different options for a Senators concept, but I ending up going with this barber-pole inspired design.  I also used their updated 2D logo as the main crest, and their old Peace Tower logo as the secondary logo.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

New York Rangers De-Edge

I got on a bit of a roll making concepts the last few days, so expect a new concept about every three days for the next little while.

New York Rangers:
Even though the Rangers have "untouchable" jerseys, I'm making something new for each team in this series so they get changed here.  The striping is different, but still inspired by their classic jerseys, and their shield logo is used on the front of the jersey.

New York Islanders De-Edge

New York Islanders:
For the Islanders I decided to use four stripes to symbolize their four straight Stanley Cups.  I know it's a very overused idea, but I couldn't think of anything unique for them.  As you can see the home jersey doesn't feature any white, and the road jersey is like the home jersey but with white as the base colour.

Have a good day.

New Jersey Devils De-Edge

While, at this point of the series there are still a lot of upcoming teams I still need to make concepts for.  I have a few done, but there mostly later in the alphabet.  So don't be surprised if there are longer waits between concepts.  Anyways, on to today's concept.

New Jersey Devils:
I had no idea what I was going to do for the Devils, because I couldn't imagine them changing their jerseys and they also don't have a lot of jerseys to draw inspiration from.  Then I had this idea, which is kind of a mix of their two different jersey designs (1982-92 and 1992-Present), but with the sleeve stripes moved up to where the TV numbers usually go, and the shoulder yoke extended to those sleeve stripes.

Nashville Predators De-Edge

Nashville Predators:
I was a big fan of the striping on the Predators original uniforms, but I like their current colour scheme better.  So I basically combined those two things here (which isn't a very original concept but it was the best idea I had).  I did simply the striping though.  Also yellow now becomes their road jersey colour, to match the rest of this series.

Have a good day.
